At first I thought of "Corona Virus" or better known now as "COVID-19" as just any other "world happening". That it wasn’t going to amount to much other than someone’s gossip highlight of the day and give someone somewhere something to talk about. The end. So I went on with my daily life like normal. Flying to work, help people out, and go home to relax and spend my weekends how I usually do in Vegas. It wasnt until the shortage of toilet paper and hand sanitizer did I wake up and begin to kinda be awoken (mainly because we weren't home and had just run out before we left. My bad!!). As days passed by and more and more stuff was being posted in the media (which might I add my Facebook feed was very negative and terrifying) about this I tried to find the light at the end of the tunnel. Something positive that would come out of this. Or just something simple to help ease my own mind. Although the only thing I could come up with as a "light" was when I sitting at the stop light facing the Las Vegas Boulavard waiting to make my usual U-turn to go home after my stock pile trip to the grocery store was "I wish Corona would have came out when I was a kid." Most kids think this is the best thing in the world. They dont have to go to school and they can do whatever they want. kinda like the ultimate snow day where I'm from. When school closed when I was younger it was like game on! What junk food am I having, what shows am I gonna watch, what else should I accomplish when Mom & Dad arent home? We werent scare just like these kids arent scared to sit at home for covid-19! They are excited... as a grown up though..... There isnt a clear end date in sight. How awesome? Noooooooo! For most adults I'm almost sure are kinda freaking out a little right now. Thinking when will I be able to work again? Do I need to find a whole different job? There is so much uncertainly right now!! Where’s the adults snow day???
Some of us are being allowed to take this time and spend it to rejuvenate ourselves, clean, get stuff done we’ve been meaning to forever, etc. Recharge! Self care! Whatever you need to do in this time to do your part to end this thing!! BUT lets talk about the others that aren’t allowed to. The men and women that are essential to our lives!! Health care, transportation, banking industry, food production, warehouse, grocery retailers, etc. I know I missed a few and will add if need be but you get my drift!!! THANK YOU for everything you do!! You might not feel like your helping the world go around, but you are!! Thank you for putting your self and families at risk in this time to do your job!! You are so appreciated and I know many haven't told you that enough!! Now what about some of the employers that should be shutting down at this time and aren’t...... NONESSENTIAL means the world would still go around without you!!!! Go let your employees that you work to death already have till the end of the month off to take a breather, let the gossip halls air out, and the virus tone down! It says something about how people or businesses are reacting or treating their employees in this time.
All that I can say is I truly cannot wait to see who we all are after this is over. If this doesnt change each and everyone of us in some sort of way I dont know what will. I will never be more thankful to take my walks down the strip and see all the people and the uncertainty of what you will find. I will be so thankful to get back home and see my family! Specially my Grandma. Girl is tough but who knows if shes tougher than Corona.... lets not find out! She will be 96 in May and cant wait to see that. My boyfriend will be so thankful for date night with his Boy and getting farther away from me than 6 ft. I just hope for a better tomorrow and a little bit brighter of a world when the dust settles.
